One Day, Now Broken In Two
when i first began reading this essay i was thinking where the seperation of the two days came in, then i thought that Quindlen was right everyday americans teenager grownups whoever, are just treating 9-11 like it was just some small thing that happened that it should just be looked at like something that happened in the past and it no need to dwell over it ,when in reality america hasn't been the same since. on 9-11, americans as a whole changed we lost family friends loved ones that are not coming back and people are just going on about there day as if what happened that day never did. i undersand now what Quindlen is saying about how we should treat the days as to different things cause whether people accept it or not 9-11 was and will forever be a historical event. but also should notice as something that brought people together.

ReplyDeleteI agree, but I don't think that they are acting that way on purpose. People react differently depending on how heavily particular events affected them. For instance, I wouldn't act the same way a person whose family member died during 9/11. All of my family members were either in Texas, Colorado,Vietnam, or Florida, while my brother and I were holed up in the sanctuary of our school during that time. However, I'm not saying this day doesn't mean a thing to me because it does. It obviously changed my life as well as the millions that live here.
